HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College pitchers allowed a total of 32 hits over two games as visiting Catholic University swept the Eagles in a Landmark Conference doubleheader, Saturday afternoon at Langdon-Goodale Field in Huntingdon.

Juniata dropped the first game 16-1, and then fell in game two 11-4.

In the first game, Catholic (7-6, 2-0 Landmark) put up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning on Dimitri Deoudes' two-run single into left field. Juniata answered with one run in the bottom of the frame when Adam Spadafora (Asbury, N.J./Pennington) reached on a leadoff double to right-center. Spadafora advanced to third on John Martinez's (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union) grounder to second, which was mishandled by Catholic second baseman Joseph Devine, and scored on a ground out to third.

Catholic expanded its lead with four runs in the second, keyed by Mike Goodman's three-run double. The Cardinals tacked on two runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth. Goodman belted a three-run home run to left center in the seventh, to help cap Catholic's scoring with a four-run seventh inning.

Juniata starter John Love (Loysburg, Pa./Northern Bedford) allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits with four walks and one strikeout over his five complete innings of work. He was lifted in favor of Will Hoffman (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) at the start of the sixth inning.

Catholic's Drew Hoffmaster picked up the complete game win, striking out five Eagle batters while scattering four hits over his seven innings on the hill.

Game two also began with the Cardinals putting up two runs in the first inning, with Patrick Quintana plated one run on a single to left field, and Goodman scoring Quintana later in the frame with a grounder to short.

Juniata posted a single run in the bottom of the first, with Spadafora reaching on a leadoff walk and crossing on Greg Hoffman's (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) ground out to second base.

Catholic scored three runs in the third, with two runs scoring on a Eamonn Burke double down the left field line, and two in both the fourth and fifth to take a 9-1 lead.

The Eagles began chipping away at the Cardinal lead in the fifth, when Spadafora led off the inning with a double down the right field line and eventually crossed the plate on Martinez's grounder to second. Juniata cut the margin down to 9-4 with two more runs in the sixth inning, with a two-run double to right field by Spadafora that scored Matt Sullivan (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Kyle Saxman (York, Pa./York Suburban).

Catholic put up a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to expand its lead, with Joe Bencivenga scoring on a wild pitch and Ross Hunsberger crossing on a L.J. Travaglia triple.

Juniata righthander Marty Hauck (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) took the loss in his second start of the season; he allowed eight earned runs on 12 hits with two strikeouts in five innings of work. Catholic's Joe Sable fanned seven Juniata batters while surrendering four earned runs on eight hits and three walks, and was credited with the win.

Juniata (3-7, 0-2 Landmark) will conclude its three-game Landmark Conference series with Catholic on Sunday, March 15, at 12:00 p.m. on Langdon-Goodale Field.
