HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's tennis team clinched a berth in the Landmark Conference tournament with a 9-0 win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Saturday afternoon on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts.

The win improved Juniata's record to 11-5 overall, 4-2 in the Landmark Conference. The fourth-place Eagles have two more wins than fifth-place Catholic University, with each school only having one Landmark match remaining to play.

Juniata won two of the three doubles matches by 8-0 scores, with Jarrad Silver (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Arnab Chakrabarti (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) at no. 1 doubles and Ryan Navarro (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) and Casey Chew (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) at no. 3 doubles accomplishing the shutouts.

All six singles matches were won in straight sets, including Chakrabarti's 6-0, 6-0 win at no. 4 singles for his sixth-straight singles win. Silver extended his singles winning streak to seven matches with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over USMMA's David Hume at no. 2 singles, while Skoner notched a 6-4, 6-0 win at no. 1 singles over Jeff Gulitus for his fifth singles win in a row.

Juniata's Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) took the match at no. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over the Mariners' Mark Aufman, while Chew recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win at no. 6 singles over Kugen Palanisamy.

Juniata returns to the courts on Monday, April 20, when travels to Frostburg, Md., to face Frostburg State.
