HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College women's volleyball senior Jessica Ritchey (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) has been named to the National Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) 2009 All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete team.

Ritchey was one of 206 collegiate athletes from 119 schools across all divisions of collegiate athletics to receive this award.

"For the past four years, Jess's hard work during the in-season and off-season women's volleyball strength and conditioning programs has earned her the respect of her teammates and coaches, and has helped set a standard of intensity and work ethic for her fellow team members," said Doug Smith, CSCS, Juniata's strength and conditioning coach. "Jess has been a pleasure to work with â?" her attention to detail, dedication and willingness to motivate and teach others has not only enhanced her own athletic abilities, but has also contributed positively to those around her."

Ritchey was a member of four Juniata teams that reached the national semifinals of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship, including the Eagles' 2006 national championship team. She served as a co-captain during the 2008 season, when she played in 37 matches and was second on the team with 245 digs (2.06/set). Ritchey led the Eagles in 2008 with 35 service aces (0.29/set).

Juniata finished the season with a 35-5 overall record, 6-0 in Landmark Conference play, and earned its 28th consecutive berth in the NCAA tournament.
