ERIE, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's soccer team fell to Penn State-Behrend, 4-0, in the opening game of the 2009 Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament in Erie, Pa.

The Eagles (0-2-0) were tied with the Lions 0-0 at the half, but Penn State-Behrend responded with four goals in the second half to seal the win.

"We were uninspired and lacked energy and creativity today," said Juniata head coach Scott McKenzie. "We played awful soccer and Behrend handed us our hats."

Junior Lauren Auster-Gussman (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) played all 90 minutes in the Juniata goal, recording seven saves on the afternoon.

The Lions' Caitlyn Elser scored the game-winner in the 59th minute on a penalty kick, and Erin McCreary tacked on a second goal five minutes later. Valerie Wagner scored the final two Lion goals in the 69th and 81st minutes respectively.

Juniata was outshot by Behrend 15-3, with the Lions also holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Penn State Behrend was also whistled offsides on four occasions.

Juniata will face Geneseo State in Sunday's consolation game at 10:00 a.m.
