Comeback bid falls short, Eagles lose 3-2

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The men's soccer team scored twice in the second half, but needed a third goal to complete the comeback against Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles lost 3-2.
Juniata (3-2) out shot the Aggies 18-13 and out cornered them 5-1, but found themselves trailing 3-0 at halftime.
The Eagles cut into the lead with 26 minutes left in regulation with an unassisted goal by senior Drew Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./ Red Land). The goal was Steffen's first of the season.
Junior Chad Kohr (Mount Wolf, Pa./ Northeastern) capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with two and a half minutes left in the game. It was Kohr's first goal of the season as well.
Tom Antonucci opened the scoring for Delaware Valley (3-2) at the 11:28 mark with an unassisted goal. Antonucci assisted on the second goal, scored by Eric Maciag with 13:40 left to play in the first half. The Aggies made it 3-0 when Antonucci scored his second goal of the match just before halftime with an assist credited to Maciag.
Getting the start in goal for the Eagles was junior Brian Trinclisti (Lewistown, Pa./ Lewistown) who recorded two saves in the first half. Junior Joe Kohler came in for the second half and also made two saves in 45 minutes of work. Aggie goalkeeper DJ Meisinger tallied eight saves in 90 minutes.
The loss snapped a two game winning streak for the Eagles. The men make their 2009 Landmark Conference debut with a road match-up against Merchant Marine on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
