Field Hockey Stays Hot, Beats Frostburg State 6-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Eagles extended their winning streak to six games with a
6-0 victory over Frostburg State University on Wednesday afternoon on Winton Hill Field.
Junior Paula Price (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) and sophomore Brittany Kauffman (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) scored two goals each to lead Juniata (8-2, 1-0) over the Bobcats. Price scored her tenth and eleventh goals of the season, leading the team.
The Eagles were able to get on the board early, as Price put home the game-winner from sophomore Kim Amrod (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) at the 5:13 mark of the first half. Kauffman made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal off of a penalty corner with less than 14 minutes left on the clock in the half.
Price extended the margin to 3-0 with an unassisted goal at the 25:08 mark into the first half, raising her point per game average to 2.50 for the season. Finishing the scoring for the half was sophomore Shauna Deschenes (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) who received a pass from junior Jenn Moss (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) off another penalty corner.
The second half was more of the same for the Eagles as they continued to outshoot Frostburg State (6-5) by nine shots in the second half. Three and a half minutes into the half, junior Kyra Lehmann scored her first goal of the year, finishing off a pass from Caitlyn Bowman (Seven Valleys, Pa./Dallastown). Capping the scoring for Juniata was Kauffman's second unassisted goal, her third of the season, with 8:29 left in the game.
Senior Denalyn Spratt (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) earned the victory in goal playing the first 35 minutes and not facing a shot. Junior Moira Nugent (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) played 29 minutes before giving way to newcomer Janelle Howard (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) who finished the game in goal.
For the game, the Eagles outshot the Bobcats 18-2, and out cornered them 16-8.
Juniata will stay at home this Saturday, October 3 when it hosts Landmark Conference foe Moravian College on Winton Hill Field at 1 p.m.
