BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Juniata College men's soccer team could not quite finish the comeback bid at it fell to Moravian College, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem, Pa.

Trailing 3-0 after 62 minutes of play, the Eagles scored the next two goals to cut the lead to one, but could not complete the comeback against the Greyhounds (3-6-2, 1-1).

Moravian got on the board first when Blake Ritchey was able to beat junior goalkeeper Joe Kohler (Vienna, Va./James Madison) with a shot from outside the 18-yard box. John Pavia made it 2-0 when his shot from 25 yards out beat Kohler, 29:34 into the game.

After the break, Moravian scored once again at the 62:01 mark, making it 3-0 when Taylor Molinaro scored on a break-a-way.

The Eagles responded with two straight goals of their own. Andrew Steffen (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) tallied the first one off a pass from Evan LaTourrette (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville). Steffen volleyed home the pass from the 12-yard mark.

Chris Engle (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made it a one goal game when he beat Greyhound goalie Tim Dollarton on a break-a-way with a shot to the far post with just less than ten minutes remaining in the game.

Head Coach Dan Dubois was pleased with how the team stayed in the game and fought back. "It's hard to spot a team 3-0 and expect to come back. But, I'm proud the way we stayed together and won the last 30 minutes of play."

But the Greyhounds were able to hold off the pressure, and clinched the game when Evan Outlaw scored on another break-a-way four minutes later.

Juniata (5-5-0, 1-2) outshot and out cornered Moravian, 15-13 and 11-2, respectively.

"We absolutely dominated the possession of the ball. They just capitalized on their chances early, and forced up to play from behind. We have to find a way to start out quicker in games," said Dubois.

The team faces off against King's College on Tuesday, October 6 at 3:30 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
