HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Sophomore Luke Waddell's (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) first half goal proved to be all Juniata College needed to rise above Hood College 2-0, Monday afternoon at Winton Hill Field.

Waddell beat Hood (2-10-0) keeper William Lane with an unassisted blast from outside the 18 yard box in the 13th minute.

Freshman Gregory Hess (Hanover, Pa./Souther Weston) secured Juniata's (6-7-0) victory when he gained control of the ball in the goal box in the 65th minute. Hess's goal was also unassisted.

With the win today, Juniata has beaten its win record (5) from the 2008 season. The Eagles outshot the Blazers 29-3. Juniata's defense managed to keep Hood's offense bottled up, leaving the Blazers with no shots on goal. The Eagles held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Juniata keeper junior Brian Trinclisti (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown) played all 90 minutes in the Eagles goal and recorded zero saves. Hood's Lane saw all 90 minutes in the Blazer goal and recorded seven saves.

Juniata men's soccer will return to action this Saturday, Oct. 17, when it hosts Landmark Conference rival Drew University at 3:30 p.m. at Winton Hill Field.
