HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College women's volleyball team stayed put in the number two spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Top 25 poll, released Tuesday.

The Eagles inched closer to the number team, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, narrowing the gap of points that separate the two teams. Juniata (23-2, 6-0 Landmark) received three first place votes and was awarded 576 total points. Wisconsin-Oshkosh checks in with 20 first place votes and 594 total points.

Washington-St. Louis moves up a spot to third with 555 points and one first place vote while Emory University slips a spot down to fourth 521 points. Holding strong in the fifth spot is Ohio Northern University with 502 total points.

Rounding out the top ten in the sixth through tenth spots are Hope (443), Wittenberg (435), Wisconsin-Whitewater (416), Carthage (393), and St. Thomas, Minn. (377).

Juniata finished its Landmark Conference regular season schedule this past week with 3-0 victories over Scranton, Susquehanna, and Moravian, all played at Catholic University. The Eagles will host the 2009 Landmark Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The Eagles open this week against NCAA Division II opponent California University of Pa. and continues its home stretch with the annual Wid Guisler Invitational on Friday and Saturday in the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center.
