SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Juniata College women's soccer team outshot its rivals from Susquehanna University, but the Crusaders came out on top on the scoreboard as Juniata dropped a 2-0 decision to Susquehanna on Wednesday night at Sassafras Field.

Susquehanna's Abby Montgomery put the Crusaders on the board in the 22nd minute. Samantha Farina played a through ball past the Juniata defenders, and Montgomery finished with a shot past Juniata keeper Kristen Penska (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin).

The Crusaders doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute, when Montgomery again struck with an assist going to Farina.

Juniata outshot Susquehanna, 11-9, including a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Penska recorded three saves in her 90 minutes in the Eagle goal, while Susquehanna's Alyssa Kemmerer logged six saves. The Crusaders also enjoyed a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, and were whistled for offsides seven times.

The loss eliminates Juniata (5-11-0, 1-5-0 Landmark) from contention for the Landmark Conference tournament.

Juniata concludes its 2009 season this Saturday, Oct. 24, when it hosts the University of Scranton at 1:00 p.m. on Winton Hill Field.
