Field Hockey Holds Strong in National Poll After a Solid Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Juniata College field hockey team posted a 2-0 week and moved up one spot in the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll, released today.
The Eagles beat Wesley College (Del.) 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and the University of Scranton 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 24. The team is now 14-3 overall and gathered 190 points to move up one spot to no. 18 in the poll.
The top five remain the same as last week with Messiah College receiving 46 first place votes and holding on to first. Salisbury University (923), Ursinus College (876), Trinity College, Conn. (844) and Tufts University (752) round out the top five. Trinity was the only other team to tally first place votes with four.
Juniata has two more non-conference games before hosting the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships on Winton Hill Field, starting November 4. The Eagles went 6-0 during the conference regular season.
They next play Kean University on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m. at home.
