SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Seniors Ryan Baird (North Huntindon, Pa./Norwin) and TJ Breya (McClure, Pa./East Juniata) and freshman Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) captured first place in fourth different events, leading all Juniata College finishers at the Susquehanna University Open track and field meet, held Friday in Selinsgrove, Pa.

Baird cleared the bar at a height of 14-0.5 to take the pole vault competition, while Shaffer's leap at the height of 5-2 was two inches better than her closest competition in the high jump. Shaffer also finished second in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.68 seconds, trailing only a runner from Division I Towson University.

Breya won the men's 55m hurdles with a time of 8.13 seconds, and also finished first in the 400m dash with a mark of 51.75 seconds.

Laura Rupprecht (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) was fourth in the women's mile run with a time of 5:24.12, with Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City) placing fourth in the men's 800m run in 1:59.96. Courtney DeGemmis (Lansdale, Pa./Methacton) was ninth in the women's 400m, posting a time of 1:04.36.

In other field events, Skylar Kulbacki (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was eighth in the triple jump, with a jump of 33-3.75. Shaffer was two places behind in the 10th spot, with a mark of 32-10.25. In the pole vault, Stephanie Varner (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) and Lauren Taylor (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) were tied for fifth, both clearing a height of 9-6.25.

Juniata will compete in the Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships next Saturday, Feb. 27, at Susquehanna University.
