MEN'S SOCCER (0-1-0, 0-0 Commonwealth): Sept. 6 vs. Penn State-Behrend; Sept. 7 vs. Daemon College (SUNY Fredonia Tournament)
Juniata opened the season with a 1-0 overtime loss at Kings College. The winning goal came with only nine seconds remaining in the first overtime period. Senior goalie Chris Zimmerman (Westmont Hilltop/Johnstown) made five saves in the loss.

FIELD HOCKEY (2-0, 0-0 Commonwealth): Sept. 7 at Washington & Jefferson; Sept. 8 at Slippery Rock.
The Eagles started the season in style by winning the Juniata Tournament. An overtime goal by Grace McCluskey (West Perry/Elliottsburg) gave the Eagles a 3-2 victory over Gordon College in the tournament opener. Jean Silvey (Red Lion/Airville) and Marie Lobaugh (Biglerville/Aspers) also scored in the victory. Melonie Sappe? (Dallas/Shavertown) made 21 saves. She followed up that performance by turning away 10 shots in the championship game. Billie Rickenbaugh (East Juniata/McAlisterville) provided all the offense the Eagles needed, as her goal with just under five minutes remaining in regulation gave Juniata the 1-0 victory.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL (3-0, 0-0 Commonwealth): Sept. 7, vs. Gannon (at Indiana, PA); Sept. 8, at Indiana (Pa).
The Eagles opened up their season by sweeping three games at the Gettysburg Invitational. In the opening match against Gettysburg Danielle Hart (Central/Roaring Spring) led the way with 11 kills and 14 digs as Juniata won 3-0. Also contributing defensively were Johanna Holtan (Fargo North/Fargo, ND) and Lindsey Habel (Glen Oak/Canton, OH) who had 16 and 17 digs respectively. Juniata won the second match against George Fox (Or.) also by the score of 3-0. Hart led the offense recording 19 kills, and Holtan again starred defensively with 20 digs. The final match against Ithaca ended in another Juniata 3-0 victory. Niki Mueller (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) paced the offense with 16 kills, while Hart filled up the stat sheet, recording eight kills, five serve aces, eight digs and four block assists. Holtan turned in another strong defensive performance with 17 digs in the match. Setter Carli Dale (Cochranton/Cochranton) added two aces, five digs and five kills in helping the Eagles to victory.


WOMEN'S SOCCER (2-0-0, 0-0 Commonwealth): Sept. 6 at SUNY Fredonia; Sept. 7, vs. Buffalo State.
The Eagles got the season off on the right foot with a pair of 3-1 victories over the weekend. Rebecca Shoaf (Madison/Madison, NJ) scored two goals in leading the Eagles to a victory over Mansfield University. Angela Condor (Bishop Carroll/Loretto) also scored, and three different players had assists. Three different players also scored on Sunday as Juniata topped Kings College 3-1. Nancy Hayes (Westminster/ Westminster, MD), Desiree Wagner (Harbor Creek/Erie) and Lauren Smith (Emmaus/Zionsville) all tallied in the victory. The 2-0 start marks the first time since the 1990 season that the Juniata women have opened a season with two-straight wins.
