HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College men's soccer team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 4-1 in the first home game of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Winton Hill Field.

Juniata goals came from Chad Kohr (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern), Austin Nace (Littletown, Pa./Littlestown), Eric Huet (Friedens, Pa./Somerset), and Evan Decker (New Berlin, Pa./Mifflinburg).

Kohr scored only two minutes into the game off of a corner from David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area). The next goal didn't come until the 26th minute from Nace off of another corner from Grim. The third time around Greg Hess (Hanover, Pa./South Western) had a breakaway and a shot, which deflected off of the keeper for Decker to finish. Finally, Huet had a picture perfect unassisted goal in the 44th minute from outside the 18 yard line.

Mark Tomich responded with Pitt-Greensburg's only goal of the night in the 79th minute mark from outside the 18.

The entire match was competitive, with Juniata and Pitt-Greensburg possessing the ball back and forth. Head Coach Dan Dubois gave the freshmen a shot both in the first and second half. Andy Blunk (State College, Pa./State College) started as a defender for the team and saw plenty of action. Blunk struck a powerful shot from outside the 18, which hit the crossbar. Seth Ruggiero (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) saw time in the second half and had great defensive positioning.

Returning goalkeeper Joe Kohler (Vienna, Va./James Madison) made seven saves throughout the first half. Transfer Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) made four saves in the second half in his Juniata debut.

Juniata will travel to the Delaware Valley College Tournament in Doylestown, Pa. this weekend to face Southern Vermont and Rosemont College.
