ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Juniata College women's volleyball handled the opening day of competition at the Nazareth College Invitational without any difficulties, dispatching a pair of opponents by 3-0 scores.

Juniata (6-0) downed SUNY Fredonia, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-15 in its early afternoon match, then breezed past Russell Sage College, 25-16, 25-13, and 25-9.

Junior outside hitter Drew Barnhart (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) and freshman outside hitter Amy Miller (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) each had nine kills in the win over Fredonia State, with Barnhart adding a pair of blocks. Senior middle Kristin Noetzel (Closter, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) also posted two blocks against the Blue Devils.

Libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) sprawled for 18 digs, while freshman Jordan Hopper (Laguna Beach, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal) served three aces.

Against Sage, sophomore middle Madison Petsos (Portsmouth, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) logged 11 kills and three blocks, while freshman opposite Courtney Lydick (McKean, Pa./General McLane) recorded nine kills and five service aces. Sophomore Shelby Cassell (Grantham, Pa./Mechanicsburg) had 14 digs.

Juniata will face New York University on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with bracket crossover matches scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
