HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College student-athlete David Grim (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) has been named to the 2010 ESPN Academic All-District Third Team for men's soccer, which was announced Tuesday.

"We are all very proud of David. This is a great accomplishment for him and it recognizes his level of dedication and hard work both on the field and in the classroom," said Head Coach Dan Dubois.

On the soccer field this season, Grim started 15 out of 17 games he played. He had four assists, which tallied him four points as a forward. His offense contributed to Juniata's second winning season in history, finishing 9-8-1 overall. In his sophomore year he was third in scoring for Juniata with two goals and two assists for six points. He was named to the Landmark Conference All-Academic First Team in 2009 and the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2008 and 2009.

The junior is studying political science and maintains a 3.75 grade point average. Grim is President of Juniata's Class of 2012, and serves as treasurer of the Model United Nations Club. He has recently joined the Board of Trustees Enrollment and Retention Committee and the Juniata College Honorary Degree Committee. He has studied political science abroad in The Gambia in the summer of 2009.

In the community, Grim is a Voting Member of the Centre County's Drug & Alcohol Planning Commission. He is a member of Juniata's Sustainability Committee and currently interns at the Huntingdon County Commissioners office. He continues community service as a co-founder of the Clean The Cliffs Initiative.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District squad, nominees must have at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.00 scale, have played in at least 50 percent of their team's games at the position for which they've been nominated, and must have at least sophomore athletic eligibility. The College Division includes student-athletes at the NCAA Division II and III levels, and District II includes all institutions from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia, and Maryland. The Academic All-District teams are selected by voting of all CoSIDA members in each district, while the Academic All-America squad is selected by a national committee.
