KINGS POINT, N.Y. -- The Juniata College women's swimming team had two swimmers reach the finals on day one of competition at the 2011 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, which began Friday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Juniata gained 54 points in the first day to place them sixth of seven teams in the Landmark Conference.

In the 200 IM Kathryn Viola (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) finished in 2:17.63 in the preliminary round to move on to finish in 2:17.98 in the finals, gaining fourth place and 11 points.

In the 50 Freestyle Kelsey Miles (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) finished both rounds in 25.66 to gain her fourth place and 11 points as well.

The Eagles placed sixth in the 200 Freestyle Relay to gain them 18 points in 1:49.06, and seventh place in the 400 Medley Relay in 4:29.33 for 14 points.

Competition in the Landmark meet continues Saturday and Sunday in Kings Point, N.Y.
