Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College junior Jean Silvey (Red Lion/Airville) was recognized by the Commonwealth Conference as the field hockey "player of the week."

Silvey led the Eagles to perfect 3-0 record on the week, as she scored two goals and notched two assists. Both her goals came as the Eagles topped Bridgewater (Va.) by a 3-1 margin. The junior midfielder added an assist in the Bridgewater victory. Earlier in the week, Silvey assisted on Juniata's only goal in a 1-0 overtime victory over Frostburg.

For the season, Silvey is leading the Blue and Gold in points with 23. She has eight goals, which is good for second-best on the team, and is tied for the team lead with seven assists. Silvey's 23 points through 13 games, already places her in the Juniata top-ten for most points in a season, and the Eagles still have seven games remaining on their schedule. Silvey's 23 points is nearly four times the total the Juniata leader in points had in the 2001 season. With her performance this season, Silvey has also moved into the Juniata top 10 in career points, and the top five in school history in career assists.

With Silvey leading the offense Juniata had a record of 9-4 through Oct. 15. As of that date, the Eagles were in the midst of a five-game winning streak, matching the longest winning streak in the program's history. The other team with a five-game winning streak was the 1988 Eagle squad, which finished the year with a record of 12-3-1.
