HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- David Andrews, an attorney with the Altoona, Pa.-based law firm Andrews and Beard and chair of the Juniata College board of trustees, received the John C. Baker Award for Exemplary Service from Juniata College at a recent meeting of the board.

The John C. Baker Award is presented by the Board of Trustees to recognize and honor individuals or organizations for exemplary service to Juniata College. The award is not given annually, but is reserved for appropriate candidates as they arise. Andrews is the sixth recipient of the award since it was established in 1997.

"Dave has helped steer the college through an era of growth and expansion but also has been a responsible steward for Juniata during the lean economic times we are experiencing today," says Thomas Kepple, Juniata College president. "During his time as chair, we have completed what turned out to be a redesign of our central campus, establishment of the Raystown Field Station lodges and increased our enrollment to historic levels."

Andrews, a native of Altoona, is a graduate of Juniata, earning a bachelor's degree in political science in 1974. He went on to earn a law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in 1977.

"It has been exciting to play a part in the success of Juniata as its nationally celebrated reputation as a great college continues to grow," he says. "It has been my pleasure to see the high quality of education provided by Juniata used to such great effect by every one of our graduates."
