BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Both the Juniata College men's and women's cross country were among the over 5,000 runners from 450 colleges and high schools that competed in the 38th Annual Lehigh University Paul Short Run on Friday, with the women posting a 12th place finish overall in their race while the men clinched a 22nd place spot.

Sophomore Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) was the top Juniata finisher, placing
7th overall with a time of 23:23 in the 6k race. Only one other Landmark Conference runner, Moravian College's Cadee Rockwell, finished ahead of Woods.

Junior Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) posted a 23:46 time earning her a 16th place overall finish, the second highest Juniata finish on the day. Senior Casey Hoffman (Coplay, Pa./Parkland Senior) finished third for the Eagles as she crossed the finish line at 109th overall with a 25:54 time.

Freshman Courtney Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) posted a 26:07 time that earned her a 119th place finish, while teammate Alyssa Cousins (State College, Pa./State College) turned in a 146th place finish and a 26:33 time. Freshman Haley Schneider (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished the 6k at 173rd with a time of 27:01.

The women's 12th place finish and a 25:09 average time, a 3:10 spread, was the third best finish out of Landmark Conference competitors. Goucher College finished fourth, the best Landmark finish, closely followed by a fifth place Moravian College, with both squads running for an average time of 24:43. Susquehanna University placed 17th overall, with Catholic University of America, United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), and Drew University finishing 25th, 31st, and 34th respectively.

In the men's 8k race, sophomore Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) finished first for Juniata at 70th with a 28:05 time. Senior Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin) was close behind coming in 84th and turning in a time of 28:15.

Freshman Trevor Stephens (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished 103rd and posted a 28:32 time, followed by junior Ryan Trexler (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) finishing 143rd with a time of 29:12. Freshman Nick Trapane (Thumont, Md./Catoctin) ran a 29:33 race and placed 164th, while junior John Lugg (Lock Haven, Pa./Western Reserve Academy) came in 195th at 30:01. Senior Nik Klena (Franklin, Pa./Oil City) finished 211th out of nearly 300 collegiate runners with a 30:15 time.

Finishing 22nd overall with a 28:43 average time and a 1:28 spread, the men's team earned the best Landmark Conference finish. Then next closest team was USMMA who placed 26th overall with a 29:33 average time. Catholic University and Drew University were neck-and-neck finishing 28th and 29th respectively. The Goucher men placed 37th out of 42 teams with an average time of 30:29.

Juniata travels to DeSales University next Saturday, Oct. 8, to compete in the DeSales Invitational.
