WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Juniata men's soccer dropped a 3-1 Landmark Conference match to Catholic University of America on the road Saturday afternoon.

The lone Juniata (5-5-1, 1-3 LC) goal came from senior forward Jeff Gring (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) when he fired a drive from 30 yards out into the upper left corner of the Cardinal net in the 42nd minute.

The first Catholic (10-3, 4-0 LC) goal came in the 11th minute when junior forward Mike Brennan led senior midfielder Michael DiMarco to the Juniata goal-face.

Just two minutes into the second half, freshman midfielder Hunter Horvath lobbed the ball over the Eagles' defense and found the foot of Brennan for the game winner.

The Cardinals put up a security goal in the 77th minute when junior midfielder Alex Sagastume passed to DiMarco who ripped a low drive at the edge of the goalie box.

Despite the three goals allowed, junior keeper Ezra Cassel (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) rejected 11 Catholic shots in 90 minutes of play.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for a 5:00 p.m. Landmark Conference contest at Susquehanna University.
