MEN'S BASKETBALL (3-1, 0-0 Commonwealth): Dec 4 vs. Messiah*; Dec 7 at Widener*.

Two wins on the week for the Juniata College men's basketball team, as well as the first loss of the season in the Championship Game of the Allegheny Tip-off Tournament. Juniata started the week with the team's second win of the season over Penn State-Altoona. Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) led the Eagles with 17 points, while Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon), Tommy McConnell (Bishop Guilfoyle/Hollidaysburg) and Greg Ebert (Forbes Road/Waterfall) each scored in double figures as Juniata won 80-61. The Eagles then picked up a big win over Allegheny in the first game of the Allegheny Tournament. The Eagles scored a season-high 91 points once again led by Lau who poured in a career-high 24 points. Travis Boyd (Juniata Valley/Barree) added 18 points and Neil Holloway (Tussey Mountain/Saxton) added his season-high 15 points. In the Championship Game, the Eagles could not hold a 13-point halftime lead and dropped their first contest of the season. The loss came in the fifth game in eight days for Juniata, who will begin their conference schedule on Wednesday.

Juniata split a pair on contests this week, with the win coming against Delaware Valley 84-76 over the weekend. Juniata got a season-high 24 points from senior Jen LaCount (Westmont Hilltop/Johnstown) in the victory. Freshman Kristen Kirk (Newport/Newport) score a career-high 16 points as the Eagles rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to come away with the win. Juniata shot 64 percent from the field in the second half, and 52 percent from three-point range for the game. Casey Shoup (Altoona/Altoona) and Jen Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) each also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Uhrich also had a team-high eight rebounds, along with teammate Kelly Steinbeiser (Altoona/Altoona). Juniata dropped their first game of the week before the Thanksgiving break on the road against Muhlenberg. Four Eagles once again reached double figures, LaCount again leading the way with 15. Shoup had 13 for the blue and gold, while Janine Smeltz (Line Mountain/Herndon) and Uhrich each had 10. Uhrich also added 15 rebounds for her second-career "double-double."
