(Posted June 24, 2016)
HUNTINGDON, PA. -- Juniata College has been included in the Top 20 in a poll that lists the top 20 deals at "Small Colleges for the Environmentally Minded Student" by the website greatcollegedeals.net.
Juniata is rated No. 19 in the poll, above Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Rated just above Juniata are Georgia College & State University, University of Minnesota-Morris, SUNY Plattsburgh and Pomona College in Claremont, Calif.
GreatCollegeDeals is a free online resource guide for students seeking an affordable education. The website offers a variety of rankings with a common theme: highlighting regionally accredited colleges offering quality education with below-average net prices.
Juniata's environmental science program, one of the college's most popular fields of study, was chosen because students can "choose to concentrate in natural science, general studies, wildlife conservation, or environmental economics."
The guide cited Juniata's dedication to offering fieldwork opportunities on campus or at study abroad sites. In addition, the site praised Raystown Field Station, where students can study for an entire semester.
The ratings agency also noted that 85 percent of the environmental science program graduates advance to master's programs with full financial aid or scholarship packages. Great College Deals' mission is to provide high school students and other prospective college students with information about top-ranked universities offering accredited degrees at competitive tuition rates.
