HUNTINGDON, Pa. – A “Who’s Your Neighbor?” panel will be held at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, in the Ellis Hall Ballroom at Juniata College. The event will feature a panel of four Juniata students, Elijah Weaver ’24, Samuel Feagley ’23, Jean Barrera ’23, and Shameea Butler-Bonner ’23, who will share stories of transformations and adaptations. The event is free and open to the public.

Hosted by the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the “Who’s Your Neighbor?” series invites audiences to learn about the rich diversity of Juniata’s campus community by listening to panel members reflect on how their experiences challenge them and encourage personal growth. Presenters’ stories reveal elements of their intersectional identities and how their experiences enhance their ability to embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion at Juniata.

Each “Who’s Your Neighbor” event is designed to create opportunities to dialogue and gain a first or deeper connection with panelists.

“We often talk with our campus and community neighbors, but how well do we truly understand them?” said Grace Fala, Interim Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. “If we pause to listen to our neighbors’ stories, we deepen our understandings and appreciation of one another. Empathy echoes into our lives through stories shared, resonating our humanity.”

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is tasked with identifying and implementing processes and support structures designed to instantiate equity and belonging among all members of the Juniata community. The EDI office collaborates with all campus areas to ensure that these structures are working effectively. Through shared support, affirmation, celebration, and advocacy, the office promotes and engages an “equity-minded culture.”
