Huntingdon, PA ? Juniata College sophomore Nikki McLellan (Parkland/Hanover) earned both Commonwealth Conference and ECAC women?s soccer ?Player of the Week? honors for her efforts with the Juniata soccer team. She was chosen as the ECAC women?s soccer co-player of the week, sharing the honor with Marea Hennessy of Farmingdale State.

McLellan did the majority of her damage in one match as she led the Eagles to an 11-0 victory over Mount Aloysius. McLellan accomplished a season?s worth of scoring in the match as she tallied a hat-trick and added four assists good for 10 points in the Juniata win. In a stretch from 9:26 in the game to the 66:18 mark, McLellan was involved either with a goal or an assist in six of Juniata?s seven goals. She scored two, and assisted on four of the scores during that stretch. For good measure, McLellan added an assist on Juniata?s lone goal in a 2-1 loss against Pitt-Greensburg. For the week, the sophomore forward scored three goals and dished out five assists. Her 11-point performance on the week matched her point production from her entire freshman season.

After earning second-team all-conference laurels as a freshman, McLellan has picked up right where she left off. She leads the team in both assists and points with nine and 23 respectively. She?s second on the unit in goals with eight. She has already doubled her goal total from her freshman campaign, and has tripled her assist total from last season.

With McLellan leading the Juniata offensive unit, the Blue and Gold are off to a 4-7 start through the first 11 games. Juniata has five conference games remaining in which to make a run at the Commonwealth postseason. They will begin that run on Thursday the ninth when they host Susquehanna.
