Juniata to Host Inaugural Central Pennsylvania Preview Day Oct. 26

HUNTINGDON, Pa.—For high school students considering their college options, the right choice might be closer than they think. Juniata College will host its inaugural Central Pennsylvania Preview Day on Monday, Oct. 26, inviting sophomores, juniors and seniors from across the surrounding region to discover what a college experience in their own backyard can offer. 

“We wanted to create an opportunity specifically for students in the communities surrounding Juniata to see what’s possible here,” said Alisha Boerstler, director of recruitment and enrollment communication at Juniata College. “There’s often a perception that you have to travel far from home to have a meaningful college experience, but students can find opportunities to explore, grow and prepare for their futures right here in their region. This day is about giving students the chance to experience that for themselves.” 

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., students and their supporters will hear from current Juniata students, explore academic programs and campus life, and discover how attending college in their region can offer opportunities for independence, exploration and growth. 

“We want students to leave with a better understanding of what their college options can look like,” Boerstler said. “They’ll have the chance to talk with current students about academics, campus life, getting involved and the transition from high school to college. Those conversations can help students think beyond the name or location of a college and start identifying the experiences and opportunities that matter most to them.” 

At Juniata, graduates enjoy outsized success, with a 96% graduation rate and 95% of graduates employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. Students gain the experiences that help prepare them for what comes next through internships, study abroad, mentored research, and other opportunities that take learning beyond the classroom.
