Juniata Men's Basketball Team Improves Record to 3-1

MEN?S BASKETBALL (3-1, 0-0 Commonwealth): Dec. 3 at Messiah*; Dec. 6 vs. Widener*
The Juniata College men?s basketball team improved to 3-1 with a pair of non-conference victories. The Eagles topped Westminster 83-62 and then blitzed Washington and Jefferson 76-59. Juniata had four players score in double figures in both contests. Against Westminster Craig Biller (Penn Cambria/Loretto) scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting to pace the Eagles. Greg Ebert (Forbes Road/Waterfall) notched 17 points in the contest, while passing out a team-high five assists. Freshman Nick Hager (Franklin/Franklin) recorded his first career ?double-double? with 14 points and a team-best 10 rebounds, while another freshman Chris Jasiota (Oil City/Oil City) was also in double figures with 10 points. Against Washington and Jefferson, Tommy McConnell (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) paced a balanced Eagle attack with 19 points and eight assists. Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) tossed in 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. Travis Martin (Huntingdon/Huntingdon) led the team with seven boards while adding 11 points, and Biller added 11 points of his own. As a team, Juniata shot 46 percent in the win against Washington & Jefferson, and 51 percent against Westminster.
WOMEN?S BASKETBALL (2-2, 0-0 Commonwealth): 3 at Messiah*; Dec. 6 vs. Widener.*
Juniata picked up a road victory with a 71-44 triumph over Penn State-Altoona, then dropped another on the road as Delaware Valley rallied late to top the Eagles 66-58. Juniata had four players score in double figures against Penn State-Altoona with Gretchen Hall (Cocalico/Denver) and Kristen Kirk (Newport/Newport) leading the way with 16 points apiece. Hall also led the squad with three assists. Katie O?Brien (Southwestern/Hanover) scored 13 points while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Jen Uhrich (Palmyra/Palmyra) scored 10 points and contributed five boards. Against Delaware Valley, Uhrich scored 17 points as the Eagles nearly handed the Aggies their first loss. Uhrich added seven rebounds for Juniata. Also in double figures was freshman Dana Reist (Manheim Central/Manheim) scored 12 points and led Juniata with nine boards. Hall also had nine boards, while passing out a team-best three assists. Lesley Snoby (Johnstown/Johnstown) scored 11 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. The Eagles held their opponents to 30 percent shooting for the week.
