Senior Basketball Player Lau Named to All-Conference Team

Huntingdon, Pa. ? Juniata College senior Jeff Lau (York Catholic/Glen Rock) has been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference second team for his play as a member of the Eagle men?s basketball squad. Juniata has now placed a player on the all-conference team in back to back seasons, after going three seasons without finding a member on the squad.
Lau capped his standout career by turning in his finest season as a senior. He was second on the team in scoring with 311 points averaging 12.4 per game. His scoring averaged ranked him eleventh in the Commonwealth Conference. Lau shot 44.8 percent from the field, and 33.8 percent from three-point range on the season. Along with his point production, he ranked second on the team in rebounds as he grabbed 105 this season while averaging 4.2 per game which was good enough to rank 19th in the Commonwealth Conference. He also was third on the team in steals with 32 and third in assists dishing out 45.
Lau led the Eagles in scoring on eight occasions during the season and scored in double figures in 18 of Juniata?s 25 games. He topped the 20-point plateau on three occasions and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds as well. He knocked down a three-pointer in 24 of Juniata?s 25 games and had at least three made treys in eight outings this season.
Lau?s performance this season has moved him into the top-10 in several career categories. He knocked down 51 threes this season, giving him 155 for his career which ranks third all-time at Juniata. Lau also made his mark defensively as his 32 steals this season moved into fourth place in career steals at Juniata with 115.
With Lau?s leadership on the court, Juniata enjoyed another successful season. Juniata finished the season with a record of 13-12, marking the first time since the 1987-88 and the 1988-89 seasons that they have had two winning seasons in a row. Last season the Eagles held a duplicate record of 13-12.
