MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (18-7, 7-5 EIVA Tait):
Juniata's hugely successful season came to an end as the Eagles dropped a five-game battle to Division I Rutgers-Newark in the semifinals of the EIVA Tournament. It was just the second time in school history that Juniata reached the semifinals of the EIVA Tournament. Ryan Genova (Antietam/Reading) led Juniata with 20 kills in the match and also brought up seven digs. Kenny Eiser (Central Bucks West/Doylestown) capped his career by knocking out 18 kills with a .382 attack percentage and six blocks. The six blocks gave him 367 for his career which moved him into second place in school history. Brian Dinning (Penn Hills/Pittsburgh) finished with 14 kills, a team-high four serve aces, eight digs and seven blocks. Cordt Withum (Penn Manor/Holtwood) and Glenn DeHaven (Walt Whitman/South Huntington, N.Y.) each had 10 kills for the match. Withum added five blocks for Juniata. Ricky Ziegler (Northeastern/Manchester) dished out 69 assists for the Eagles and added eight digs and two blocks. Tim Cole (Pennsbury/Yardley) led the squad with 15 digs in the match, just two shy of his career high. Juniata's 18 wins are the fourth most in the program's history, and came in a season when Juniata claimed the school's second Molten Division III National Championship.

BASEBALL (21-14, 14-7 Commonwealth): May 5 vs. Moravian (Conference Playoffs);
May 7-8 Commonwealth Playoffs at Reading, PA

Juniata clinched a spot in the conference postseason by posting a 5-1 week including a three-game sweep of conference foe Albright. Cody Zong (Lewistown/McVeytown) earned a pair of victories on the week, including a complete-game two hitter in a victory over Susquehanna. The Eagle sophomore allowed just eight hits and two runs in 15 innings of work, while striking out 14. Jayme Fye (Philipsburg/Philipsburg) posted a 2.25 ERA for the week in earning a victory, while Ryan O'Donnell (Lebanon/Lebanon) and Derek Tyson (Penns Valley/Penns Valley) both collected wins. Eric Hatten (Dubois/Dubois) picked up saves in a pair of victories for the Eagles which gives him 12 for his careerâ�"good for second in school history. Pacing the offense for the Eagles was sophomore David Saintz (Titusville/Titusville) who finished the week with a .458 batting average. Saintz posted 11 hits on the week, six of them for extra bases. He also led the team with eight runs scored and drove in three runs. Marc Frailey (Middletown/Middletown) knocked out seven hits on the week, scored four runs and drove in one run.

Kodi Hockenberry (Red Land/Lewisberry) had a .357 average for the week with five hits and four runs scored and notched the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth in a win over Susquehanna. Walt Goedkoop (Manheim Township/Lancaster) led the team with five RBI for the week, and also hit .318. Jesse Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) and Troy Beaver (Bellwood-Antis/Bellwood) each hit .333 in the six games, and Zach Sternberg (McCaskey/Lancaser) also bested .300 with a .312 average. Darren Hake (Red Lion/Red Lion) and Matt Garner each had three RBI.

SOFTBALL (20-13, 7-7 Commonwealth):

Juniata ended its season with a pair of tight losses in the Commonwealth Conference postseason. Juniata ends the season with a program record 20 victories. Lizzie Bartosik (Penn/Granger, In.) pitched in both contests, allowing just three earned runs in four and-a-third innings against top seed Moravian and then threw two and-two-thirds scoreless innings of relief against Susquehanna. Becky Herr (Hamburg/Hamburg) was 2-for-3 against Moravian with a three-run home run. Amy Gable (Kennard-Dale/Stewartstown) and Sarah Patterson (Danville/Danville) each had a hit and run scored against Moravian. Allison D'Ambrosia (State College/Boalsburg) had a pair of hits and an RBI in Juniata's game against Susquehanna and added one hit as a pinch hitter against Moravian. Amber Helsel (Claysburg-Kimmel/Claysburg) had two hits and a run scored against the Crusaders, and Herr added an RBI in the contest.

TRACK AND FIELD: May 8 at Penn State Open.

The Juniata College men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the MAC Championships with the Eagle women's team placing fifth place with 98 points, while the men's team placed ninth with 20 points. The 98 points scored by the women are the most points they have earned in the eight-year tenure of head coach Jon Cutright. The Eagle women broke five school records during the weekend. Twenty-three of Juniata's points came in the 400 meters as the Eagles recoded first, second and fourth-place finishes in the event. Meredith Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) placed first, breaking the school record in a time of 57.99. The previous record holder Stefanie Rynkewitz (Lewistown/Lewistown) finished second in the event, and freshman Elena Amato (Notre Dame Prep./Baltimore, Md.) ran home in fourth place. Troutman added a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, earning another five points for Juniata. Amato bested her fourth-place finish by placing third in the 800 meters. Amato placed third in the event and set a school record with a time of 2:18.26, breaking the previous record by more than a second. Katey Glunt (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) added another school record as she topped her own school record and placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Glunt earned five points by finishing the race in a time of 11:49.42 which bested the previous record of 12:05.24. The other record came on the opening day of the meet as Nancy Hayes (Westminster/Westminster, Md,) broke her own school record in the 10,000. Also earning a first-place finish on the day was Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) who tossed the javelin 133' 7" to claim the win. Jan Jennings (Pleasant Valley/Saylorsburg) added an eight-place toss in the event. Juniata also captured first place and topped the previous school record in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Julianna Hillegass (Shanksville-Stony Creek/Berlin) joined Meredith Troutman Rynkewitz and Amato topped the previous school record of 4:03.12. Also earning points for Juniata on the track were Glunt and Hayes placed third and eighth respectively in the 5,000. Completing Juniata's scoring were Andrea Denkovich (Greencastle-Antrim/Greencastle) and Betsey Kusniez (Boyertown/Gilbertsville) who finished seventh and eighth in the hammer throw. For the Eagle men Jeremy Weber (Garden Spot/Mohnton) capped a solid weekend by jumping 43' 8" in the triple jump which was good for a fifth-place finish. Randy Anderson (Dubois/Dubois) added a seventh-place jump in the triple. Dusty Sier (Smithsburg (Md.)/Smithsburg) added a sixth-place finish for Juniata in the finals of the 100-meter dash. Juniata then added three points with another sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Sier teamed with Anderson, Will Cantara (West Branch/Winburne) and Gary Ondecko, Jr. (Bishop Carroll/Northern Cambria) to finish in a time of 3:27.25. On the second day Juniata got several solid performances on the women's side in the throws. Debbie Delaney (Franklin/Reisertown, Md.) led the way with a third-place finish in the discus. Denkovich added three points for the Eagles as she finished sixth in the event. The Eagles also had Kira Troutman , Delaney and Betsey Kusniez (Boyertown/Gilbertsville) finish just out of the points in ninth, 10th and 11th-place respectively in the shot put. All three competitors recorded season-best efforts in the event. Maria Welch (Jersey Shore/Avis) added a point with an eighth-place finish in the long jump. Rounding out the scoring for the women was Troutman and Misty Heuston (Central/Martinsburg) completed the second day of competition in the heptathlon. Troutman's best effort came when she tossed the javelin 138'. Troutman concluded the event in third place with 2,928 points. Heuston finished the heptathlon competition in fifth position with 2,482 points.

The Eagle men put their points on the board in the jumps, mainly the long jump. Weber had the top finish as he jumped 21' 11" which left him in fifth place. Anderson was right behind him in sixth place. Anderson jumped 21' 07" in the event and helped Juniata earn seven points. Rounding out the Juniata men's scoring was Shawn Miller (Altoona/Altoona) who placed eighth in the pole vault. Miller cleared 13' for his eighth-place finish.
