Wade Roberts joined the Juniata faculty in 2008 as an assistant professor of philosophy. He earned a PhD in Philosophy from Duquesne University in 2007, where he received honors for his dissertation defense. He was a visiting student at the University of Leuven during the 2000/2001 academic year.  He received an M.A. in Philosophy from Duquesne in 1998, and he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy/English from Brimingham-Southern College in 1996. In 2021 he was awarded the I. Harvery Brumbaugh Endowed Chair in Classical/Liberal Education.  He has taught a wide variety of courses at Juniata, including classes on medical ethics, environmental ethics and social/political philosophy.  He has also taught courses on the history of philosophy, ranging from classes on antiquity and the early modern period up to the twentieth century.  His research interests focus on political philosophy, contemporary Continental thought and bioethics.  His work has appeared in a variety of journals (including Social Philosophy Today and Arendt Studies) and edited collections.  He has also presented at conferences throughout the United States and Canada, including the annual meetings of the Society for Phenomonology and Existential Philosophy as well as the Association for Core Texts and Courses.  He is a member of the American Philosophical Association.
