Get Involved

When you were going through your college search, you had to make many difficult decisions. What did you hope to get out of your college experience? Why attend a small liberal arts college over a large university? Now that you have moved into your room and classes are beginning, you are faced with more choices and many opportunities. As you try to uncover how to get the most out of your time here and those things that are meaningful for you, the best way to accomplish these things is to get involved!  It is the people around you and the memories you will create that can make your time studying here a success, and will follow you for years after graduation.

Getting involved is a great way to get to know more about your school and learn things that are never covered in class discussions.  This page is designed to provide you with a starting point to uncover some of the opportunities that are available outside the classroom and in the surrounding community.

How can I get involved on campus?  Here are some things to consider…

What about spending time away from campus?

Perhaps the best way to learn about the town of Huntingdon and the area around campus is to check out some recommendations from former and current students. This is a helpful guide that one student wrote to help you find your way around and explore the surrounding area. In addition, don't forget to check out these other things to do off-campus and in the surrounding area!

Get Help

Where can I go for help? When you arrive on campus, it is important to know that you are not expected to have all the answers. There is a lot of support available on campus, and it is valuable to understand where you can go to access some of these helpful resources. The best piece of advice that new students say they were given as they began their time studying at Juniata is to not be hesitant to ask for help and guidance. We encourage you to ask questions. Hopefully, here we can address some of the initial questions you may have and point you in the right direction to where you can always look for support, not just during your first year.

Here are some places around campus where you can get some academic help…

  • Learning Services – This office will be able to offer a variety of resources including but not limited to: Academic Coaching, Peer Tutoring, Student Accessibility Services and so much more!
  • Registrar's Office – The place for getting accurate academic information and academic policies, as well as for scheduling and academic records.
  • Writing Center – A place to get support from other students for any writing assignment that you may have due for a class.
  • Library – Take a stop in here for materials or to begin your research.
  • Information Technology and Library Services – Having trouble with your computer or accessing the campus network? Ask the ITLS staff in real time or check the TSC's online knowledge base.
  • Print Publications – Our campus print shop can help with getting posters or other visual aids made for class projects or events.
