Residence Hall Staff
Each residence hall and apartment area has student and professional staff members who are available to provide information, offer help and support, plan social and educational activities, and address concerns. A Resident Assistant (RA) will be living on your floor. They are peer advisors that provide help and assistance to residents. The Community Advisor (CA) is responsible for providing leadership and direction to those in their areas. They are a resource for RAs and provide direction to their hall staff. RAs and CAs are supervised by a live-in Residential Life Coordinator (RLC). The RLC advises the hall staff, coordinates hall programs, and works with the judicial system. Staff can answer most of your questions, and when they cannot, they know where to find them.

Dining Service
Meals are provided through Parkhurst our college dining service. All residential students are required to have a meal plan and are assigned to the all-Inclusive meal plan. Changes can only be made through the drop/add period of each semester. Declining Cash Balance (DCB) can be added through the Bursar's Office at any time during the semester and can be used in any of the Parkhurst facilities. DCB carries over from fall to spring semesters but not from one academic year to the next. Money from DCB may be used to pay for guest meals. More information is available on the Dining Services page.
-
Gold Cards
Gold cards are issued at the Public Safety Office. Cards are used to gain access to residence halls, which are locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students swipe Gold cards to gain access to any residence hall. Cards are also used at dining facilities, the library, and the Bookstore. Money can be added throughout the semester for bookstore and ”extra” food service DCB through the Bursar’s Office.
Free laundry is available in all buildings.
-
Visitation
The rights of a student to privacy, quiet, etc. are paramount and take precedence over the desire of a roommate to have guests in the room. Overnight guests may not stay more than two consecutive nights, or four nights in a thirty-day period. All guests are subject to Juniata College regulations. Guest misconduct is the responsibility of the host. All guests must have an escort while visiting residence halls. Unescorted guests will be asked to leave the campus.
-
Entry and Inspection
The College reserves the right to enter any College room when necessary and appropriate with respect to a student’s right to privacy. The College conducts health and safety inspections and maintenance visits to all College-owned residence rooms. Inspections will occur at least once during the semester and during scheduled College breaks.

Contact Your Roommate
You should have received an email with information on how to get in touch with your roommate. When you contact your roommate the following questions can help start the conversation.
- What is your Program of Emphasis (POE)?
- What are you planning on doing at Juniata? (sports, chorus, band, clubs, newspaper, etc.)
- Do you plan to bring:
- Refrigerator—largest size allowed is 4.3 cu. ft.
- Microwave—largest is 750 watt
- TV—do you want two in the room?
- Appliances—must be Energy Star and UL certified.
- When will you arrive on campus? It’s good to arrange a time to set up the room together.
