What to Bring
Click here to see a list of items to bring along with you, and also the items that should be left at home.
Residential Hall Staff
Each residential area (including residence halls and college owned apartments buildings/houses) has designated professional and paraprofessional staff members. Their main responsibility is to offer help and support, distribute important information, plan social and educational activities, and address concerns. The Resident Assistants (RAs) and Senior Resident Assistants (SRAs) are available to help students navigate the residential experience at Juniata. RAs and SRAs are supervised by a live-in professional staff, which can be a Resident Director (RD) or a Residential Life Coordinator (RLC). The professional staff works collaboratively with the SRA to advise the hall staff, coordinate hall programs, and manage student conduct. All members of the Residential Hall Staff are available to be a resource to students!
First-year students are assigned Plan 1 for the first semester, which includes 19 meals per week, plus $50 DCB for the semester. Meal plans may be changed to Plan 1 or 1A for the spring semester. Additional DCB can be added to student’s accounts at any time. This DCB carries over year to year or can be refunded upon request.
All (Declining Cash Balance) DCB associated with meal plans, not used by the end of the year, will be forfeited.
ID cards are issued at the Public Safety Office. Cards are used to gain access to residence halls, which are locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students swipe ID cards to gain access to any residence hall. Cards are also used at dining facilities, the library, and the Bookstore. Money can be added throughout the semester for bookstore and ”extra” food service DCB through the Bursar’s Office.
Free laundry is available in all buildings.
The rights of a student to privacy, quiet, etc. are paramount and take precedence over the desire of a roommate to have guests in the room. Overnight guests may not stay more than two consecutive nights, or four nights in a thirty-day period. All guests are subject to Juniata College regulations. Guest misconduct is the responsibility of the host. All guests must have an escort while visiting residence halls. Unescorted guests will be asked to leave the campus.
Entry and Inspection
The College reserves the right to enter any College room when necessary and appropriate with respect to a student’s right to privacy. The College conducts health and safety inspections and maintenance visits to all College-owned residence rooms. Inspections will occur at least once during the semester and during scheduled College breaks.
Each room has a built-in TV cable. Channels include VH1, MTV, ESPN, ESPN2, and other major networks. All you need to provide is a cable-ready TV and coax cable.
