Part-Time Juniata College Counselor
Melissa Leskowsky works as a part-time college counselor. She also works in the Huntingdon community providing therapy and behavior modification services to children, adolescences and families. She is a 1999 Juniata College graduate and studied at the University of Pittsburgh to obtain her master’s degree in Social Work. She has worked in the social work field for 20 years. She has a background in Mental Health, Child Welfare, Therapeutic Foster Care and Corrections.
Melissa uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy approaches in treatment. She believes all people are inherently good and is thankful she can help others achieve their treatment goals. She also believes therapy is a two-way street, finding success within the therapeutic relationship. Professionally, she is most proud of the relationships she has formed working in this field and looks forward to those yet to come.
Melissa’s greatest achievement is her family. She has been married for 18 years and has three children, ages 16, 12 and 5. In her free time, she enjoys remodeling projects, spending time outside and gardening. She is artistic, creative and open-minded. She believes in trust, developing relationships and enacting change. She is kind, compassionate and trustworthy.
